Go Green with your New Home

It’s important to do everything possible to keep Portola Hills, Trabuco Canyon and the surrounding areas clean and green. In accordance with our mission to build new homes that our residents love, we have also taken the initiative of going green. To reduce our carbon footprint and build more eco-friendly homes, we are offering new home options in every part of your home that require less energy, are less toxic, and can easily be recycled. Below you can find a list of some of the ways we are going green with our new homes.

Flooring

The Oaks at Portola Hills uses Future Foam for carpeting. Future Foam is carpet cushion used under your carpet selection. Future Foam is made from 100% recycled material, exceeds air quality standards for homes, and is 100% recyclable after use. Future Foam also recycles 75 million pounds of scrap foam every year. Our new homes also feature carpet and flooring material from Shaw, who is also committed to building new homes that are eco-friendly. Shaw flooring is known for using recycled products, attaining CRI Green Label Certifications, and rapidly renewable materials. Additionally, our tile is free of Volatile Organic Compounds or VOC. VOCs are chemicals that can easily be absorbed into the air. Luckily, our flooring has been free of VOCs before it was even a requirement.

Building Reduction

We are also dedicated to improving air quality when building new homes in Lake Forest. That is why we have chosen companies like Royalty Carpet Mills who produce eco-friendly products. Royalty Carpet Mills uses natural gas to create electricity, engine exhaust to heat our ovens and water used to cool an engine is recirculated to preheat our boiler water, saving more gas.

Green Certifications

The Oaks at Portola Hills has also been awarded several “green” certifications for our dedication to keeping Lake Forest, Trabuco Canyon, and surrounding areas clean. Our products have been certified for low chemical emissions by “Greengaurd”. We have also received the CRI Green Label Plus Certification for using green adhesives. In order to receive this certification all adhesives, sealants, paints and coating must comply with South Coast Air Quality Management District which ensures the “use of lowest emitting adhesive on the market.
