Al Baldwin, Baldwin & Sons’ Chief Executive Officer, has been in the real estate development and home building business for more than 60 years. With Al at the helm of three generations of builders, he’s responsible for building more than 20,000 homes for Southern California families. He’s well known for his ability to deliver quality crafted homes, and the company has been recognized with multiple awards to prove it.
Beyond his success as a homebuilder, Al is also a devout philanthropist, regularly devoting countless hours of his time to two key organizations that forge a lasting impact on America, its heritage, and children: Stars & Stripes Fishing & Golf Tournament and National Park Foundation (NPF).
Raising a record $500 million over the past five years for NPF’s Centennial Campaign for our national parks
One of Al Baldwin’s biggest passions is our national parks, and he has served on the board for a decade and as chairman of the National Park Foundation (NPF) Centennial campaign for the past 5 years. Al was reappointed to the NPF board by three administrations starting with George W. Bush. As part of his work in driving the fundraising, his latest accomplishment was raising an incredible $500 million dollars for the organization through fundraising and corporate sponsorships. In the past, the most money raised annually was $25 million. It’s a huge accomplishment for the organization - the most successful campaign in NPF’s history - led by Al, who was Chairman of the Centennial Campaign, surpassing previous years and exceeding an already highly ambitious goal to raise $250 million.
Al says his passion for our national parks started when he was a young boy, then grew as he visited many of them. “I grew up with my father and mother taking our family to visit the national parks,” he says. “The national parks are our history and our heritage. These include the beautiful parks like Yellowstone and Grand Canyon, but also all the battlefields and monuments that are so integral to our country’s history. All these treasures make up the national park system,” he adds.
Providing kids with new opportunities
Al’s second charitable passion is the Stars & Stripes Fishing & Golf Tournament. Most recently the 2018 Stars & Stripes tournament raised more than $4 million. The yearly event, which includes a golf tournament, fishing tournament and music festival, has raised more than $26 million, which has been donated to worthy youth charities over the course of its 22-year history. Some of the charities that benefit from it are: Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Miracles for Kids, Orangewood Foundation, HomeAid Orange County, Tilly’s Life Center, South Bay Community Services (SBCS), Building Baja’s Future, Plasticos, and Halo.
Whether he’s helping raise funds for our nation’s youth or helping preserve our nation’s parks, Al brings the same passion to his philanthropy work as he does to creating award-winning communities that have delighted families for decades.
