Things to do with Dad around Lake Forest

It’s almost Father’s Day and if you’re new to Portola Hills or considering moving in to The Oaks at Portola Hills you might be wondering what there is to do with dad this weekend beyond the usual brunch. Well you’re in luck because we’ve compiled a list of things to do no matter what your dad is in to!

If he loves Sports….

Spend the day at Lake Forest Sports Park! There are 3 acers of common lawn space, outdoor basketball courts, gazebo picnic areas and 2 different playgrounds for children. You can even bring your dog for a full family day of fun (just be sure they’re leashed).  In addition to great outdoor facilities, you can take your sports skills inside with open gym times for basketball and volleyball. Plus, what everyone loves to hear – free park wifi!

If he loves Nature…

Get up and into nature at Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park! This park showcases scenic rock formations such as Red Rock Canyon and 3 intermittent streams: Borrego, Serrano and Aliso Creek. With approximately 17 miles of trails, you can hike, mountain bike, or ride horses all throughout Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park and up to their many scenic overlooks. This park is aptly named, and you may see remnants from its former time at a cattle ranch like the McFadden Ranch House!

If he has young children….

Looking for some quality time between dad and the youngsters? Pretend City Children’s Museum lets kids explore, play and pretend in 17 different exhibits from the Marina to the Dentist Office. The whole family can team up and build new places in the Imagination Playground. And for the dad who wants the day to be fun and educational there is a complimentary Way-To-Play-Adventure guide that will show you fun development activities from birth to 5 years old!

If he likes movies and rides…

Can’t decide between an active or relaxing day? Do a little of both at Irvine Spectrum Center. Jump on some rides at the iconic Ferris Wheel and Carousel or go indoors to play arcade games at Dave & Busters, then embark on a virtual reality adventure at Spaces. Conclude your day by kicking back and relaxing at Irvine Improv or on the plush recliners at the Edward Irvine Spectrum 21 movie theater.
